Mission First

A Dental Plan Built Around What Veterans Actually Need

Many veterans come to us after years of putting everyone else first. Some are dealing with a painful tooth, a broken denture, a loose partial, failing crowns, or missing teeth that make eating difficult. Others need a second opinion before committing to implants or oral surgery. We slow the process down, explain the options, and help you choose the path that fits your health, timeline, and budget.

1

Relief When Something Hurts

Toothache, swelling, infection, cracked teeth, lost crowns, broken fillings, and urgent extractions are handled with calm triage and clear next steps. If same-day care is possible, we make the appointment efficient and focused on relief.

2

Restoration When Teeth Are Missing

Missing teeth affect chewing, speech, facial support, and confidence. We evaluate implants, bridges, full dentures, partial dentures, and implant-supported dentures so you can compare stability, cost, healing time, and maintenance.

3

Financial Clarity Before Treatment

We review PPO dental insurance, out-of-network benefits, financing options, and any VA-related paperwork you bring. You receive a written plan before starting major treatment, not a surprise bill after the fact.

Respectful Care From a Dentist With Orlando VA Experience

Dr. Hien Nguyen has served as a General Dentist and Clinical Faculty member in the AEGD Residency Program at the Orlando VA Medical Center. That experience matters for veterans who want a dentist who understands complex dental histories, staged treatment plans, medical considerations, and the importance of being heard before being treated.

At Carabelli Dental, the goal is not to sell you the biggest procedure. The goal is to identify what is urgent, what can be stabilized, and what will give you the most reliable long-term outcome. If a tooth can be saved, we will talk about saving it. If replacement is the stronger choice, we will explain why.

  • Private office: You are not treated like a number in a large corporate chain.
  • Advanced planning: 3D CBCT imaging helps map bone, nerves, infection, and implant options.
  • Comfort-minded visits: We work carefully with patients who have dental anxiety, long gaps in care, or past bad experiences.
  • One-roof convenience: Exams, imaging, extractions, dentures, implant planning, and many restorative steps can be coordinated in one East Orlando office.

VA Benefits, Private Insurance, and Treatment Planning Without Confusion

Dental benefits for veterans can be confusing because eligibility, authorization, and coverage are not the same for every veteran. The VA determines VA dental eligibility, and some veterans also use private PPO dental insurance, employer or retiree benefits, Medicare Advantage dental benefits, or Veterans Affairs Dental Insurance Program options.

Our role is to help you organize the dental side of the decision. Bring your insurance card, VA paperwork, referral, authorization, benefit summary, or treatment estimate from another office. We can review what we are able to verify, explain what documentation may be needed, and provide a clear treatment plan that you can compare.

Important: Carabelli Dental does not determine VA eligibility. If you plan to use VA-related dental benefits, please confirm your eligibility or authorization with VA first.

Official VA dental information is available at VA.gov dental care.

Common Needs

Dental Services Veterans Often Ask About

Whether you need urgent relief or a full-mouth plan, we focus on practical dentistry: protect what can be protected, replace what needs to be replaced, and keep the plan clear enough to act on.

Emergency Dentistry

For severe tooth pain, swelling, infection, broken teeth, lost crowns, and dental trauma. We focus first on diagnosis, comfort, and stopping the problem from getting worse.

Emergency dental care

Extractions and Oral Surgery

When a tooth cannot be predictably saved, we plan extractions carefully with imaging, anesthesia, infection control, and replacement options discussed before treatment.

Tooth extraction options

Dental Implants

Implants can restore chewing strength and confidence for single missing teeth, multiple missing teeth, or denture stability. 3D planning helps determine if you are a good candidate.

Dental implant planning

Dentures and Snap-In Dentures

If loose dentures are making eating, speaking, or smiling difficult, we can review full dentures, partial dentures, repairs, relines, and implant-supported options.

Custom denture solutions

Gum Disease Treatment

Bleeding gums, loose teeth, bad breath, and bone loss can make every future dental plan harder. Periodontal care helps stabilize the foundation first.

Ongoing Preventive Care

After the urgent work is handled, routine cleanings, exams, X-rays, and maintenance visits protect the investment you make in your mouth.

Meet Dr. Hien Nguyen

With a strong passion for surgery and implant dentistry, Dr. Nguyen has developed a reputation for clinical excellence and precision. Her expertise has led her to play a key role in training and mentoring other dentists in advanced surgical and implant techniques.

Dr. Nguyen has served as both a General Dentist and Clinical Faculty member in the AEGD Residency Program at the Orlando VA Medical Center, where she was actively involved in educating residents and delivering high-quality patient care.

She is a Fellow and IPS Master of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and maintains active membership in the Academy of General Dentistry and American Dental Association.

For veterans, that combination of surgical training, implant planning, teaching experience, and calm communication is especially valuable when the treatment decision is not simple.

Your Veteran Dental Visit: Clear, Step by Step

We keep the process organized so you know what is happening, why it matters, and what the next decision is.

1. Call and Tell Us the Mission

Tell us whether you are in pain, need a second opinion, have missing teeth, have VA paperwork, or simply want to restart care. We will help schedule the right type of visit.

2. Exam, X-Rays, and 3D Imaging When Needed

We evaluate the teeth, gums, bite, bone levels, infection risk, and replacement options. For implants or surgery, 3D CBCT imaging may be recommended for safer planning.

3. Written Priorities and Options

You receive a clear plan that separates urgent care, stabilization, replacement options, and long-term maintenance. We also discuss insurance and financing before treatment begins.

4. Treatment and Follow-Up

We complete the agreed treatment plan in stages, track healing, adjust dentures or restorations when needed, and help you move into maintenance so problems are less likely to return.

Comfort and Anxiety AwarenessIf dental visits have been stressful in the past, tell us. We explain before we act and keep the visit predictable.
Advanced Implant EvaluationBone loss, sinus position, nerve location, and bite forces matter. 3D planning helps us avoid guesswork.
East Orlando ConvenienceOur office is located at 422 S Alafaya Trl Ste 18, Orlando, FL 32828, serving Alafaya, Waterford Lakes, Union Park, Oviedo, and nearby communities.

Bring These to Your Appointment

To make the visit more useful, bring anything that helps us understand your coverage and history:

  • Dental insurance card, PPO information, or retiree benefit details.
  • Any VA dental paperwork, referral, authorization, or eligibility notes.
  • Medication list, medical conditions, allergies, and recent surgeries.
  • Prior dental treatment plan, X-rays, implant quote, or denture estimate if you want a second opinion.

Frequently Asked Questions for Veterans

Clear answers before you book.

  • Does Carabelli Dental decide whether I qualify for VA dental benefits?
    • No. VA determines eligibility for VA dental care and authorization. We can review paperwork you bring and explain the dental treatment side, but eligibility and benefit approval must come from VA or your benefit provider.
  • Can I bring VA paperwork, a referral, or an authorization to the office?
    • Yes. Bring anything you have. Our team can review the documents and tell you what we are able to verify before treatment. If additional approval is needed, we will tell you before moving forward.
  • What if I have not seen a dentist in years?
    • You are not alone. Many veterans restart care after a long gap. We begin with diagnosis and priorities, not judgment. The first goal is to understand what is urgent, what is stable, and what choices are realistic.
  • Can you help if my dentures are loose or painful?
    • Yes. We can evaluate fit, sore spots, bone changes, bite issues, replacement dentures, relines, repairs, and implant-supported denture options such as snap-in dentures.
  • Are dental implants possible if I have bone loss?
    • Sometimes. Bone loss does not automatically rule out implants, but it changes the plan. A 3D scan helps evaluate bone volume, nerve location, sinus position, and whether grafting or a different replacement option may be needed.
  • Can you give me a second opinion on a large treatment plan?
    • Yes. Bring the estimate, X-rays, and any notes from the other office if you have them. We can review priorities, risks, alternatives, and what questions you should ask before committing.
  • Do you offer financing for major dental treatment?
    • Flexible financing options may be available depending on the treatment plan and approval. We will discuss options before treatment starts so you can compare the monthly commitment with the clinical benefits.
  • Can my spouse or family member come with me?
    • Yes. Many patients prefer to bring someone they trust, especially for larger decisions such as implants, dentures, oral surgery, or full-mouth treatment planning.
